About the Delta Library

The Delta Library of the University of Tartu can be considered to have originated in 2020, when the former Mathematics and Informatics Library and the Economics Library both moved to the newly completed Delta Centre.

The Delta Library is a subject library that contains academic and scientific literature in various fields of mathematics, statistics, informatics, and economics.

Our library provides comfortable working spaces with computer workstations and the option to connect mobile devices to monitors.

The library is open to all visitors. Borrowing books for home use is available to members of the University of Tartu. For more details, see the University of Tartu Library rules.

To borrow books for home use, a University of Tartu Library reader account and a valid reader identification document (ID card, or a paid library card issued by the UT Library, or a residence permit card) are required.

  • at the service desks of the University of Tartu Library and all UT subject libraries

Fines

Fines can be paid:

  • by transfer to the bank account no. EE241010002019753006
  • receiver of the transfer: Tartu Ülikool
  • explanation: VIIVIS, name of the payer, number of the library card or your identity code
  • by bank card at the UT Library (W. Struve Street 1, Tartu)

Payment can be seen in the library information system at the end of the next workday after the payment.

Printing, Photocopying and Scanning

Next to the entrance of the Delta Library, you can use the Print in City service. Payment is required according to the PiC price list.

To print, you need to create a printing account. You can create an account and add funds on the Print in City website.

To access the printer,

  • add the number of one of your cards to your account settings (for example, an Estonian ID card, a UT staff card, or a public transport card) or
  • identify yourself at the printing device using your Print in City PIN code.

  • Information about non-digitized theses can be found in the the ESTER e-catalogue. These materials are available for on-site use at the University of Tartu Library (W. Struve Street 1, Tartu).
  • ACM Digital Library E-journals and conference collections published by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Full text of every article ever published by major computing publishers.
  • O'Reilly O'Reilly Digital Library provides access to over 45000 technology, creative and business books and videos from leading publishers. Registration with university e-mail (@ut.ee) is required. You can do so here: https://www.oreilly.com/library-access/ Click on Institution not listed? and then enter your UT e-mail address (@ut.ee). You will get temporary access to the database and, in 5 to 30 minutes, an e-mail via which you can create an account.
  • Ebook Central Ebook Central delivers ebooks from authoritative and scholarly sources, including university presses and other top publishers.
  • Cambridge Books Online. Cambridge University Press e-books, purchased for university users. To find the full texts refine the results by marking the "Only show content I have access to" filter.
  • IEEE Xplore. Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) digital library: close to 5 million books, journals, magazines, conference proceedings, standards.
  • Open Textbook Library. A database of open-access textbooks from various fields. These books have been reviewed by faculty from various colleges and universities to assess their quality.

UT Mathematics and Statistics Thesis Repository (since 1950) ! Information about non-digitized theses can be found in the ESTER e-catalogue. These materials are available for on-site use at the University of Tartu Library.

Master’s and bachelor's theses in mathematics and statistics can be found in the UT Digital Archive ADA.

  • Oxford Academic e-journals and e-books
    • Oxford Academic provides access to a comprehensive collection of scholarly e-journals and e-books from Oxford University Press, covering a wide range of disciplines. Full texts of articles are available from 1996.
  • EBook Central
    • A multidisciplinary database of e-books.
    • Books cannot be copied and printed in their entirety.
  • Cambridge Books Online
    • Cambridge University Press e-books, selected titles of which are available in full text to the University of Tartu. To see the list, click on "View all ebooks and Elements you have access to here".
  • ScienceDirect
    • Access to full texts since 1999. Subject areas include mathematics.
  • Springer Nature Link e-journals
    • The multidisciplinary, electronic library Springer Nature Link contains about 3600 scholarly journals. Full-text coverage begins with the year 1997.

Laptops

First-year students at the Institute of Computer Science can borrow laptops from the Institute of Computer Science starting from the beginning of the semester.

Students from other disciplines who are enrolled in at least 6 ECTS worth of courses at the Institute of Computer Science can borrow a laptop from the Delta Library. More information here.
